Quesnel, BC

Quesnel, named after Jules Maurice Quesnel, a lieutenant in Simon Fraser's historic 1808 expedition down the Fraser River, is positioned at the mouth of the Quesnel River. The city's heritage is steeped in the rich history of the Cariboo Gold Rush and Quesnel celebrates this fact. If you would like to try your hand at panning for gold, find you way to where the Fraser River meets the Quesnel River — the spot Ben MacDonald first found gold in 1859. This area has been set aside specifically for those bitten by the gold bug. Also check out the giant gold pan standing 5.5 m (18 ft.) high as a monument to the Cariboo Gold rush.Quesnel Travel
